For many of us, a dinner date is a real commitment, whether it is with a new love interest, with an old pal or with the family. However, a coffee date is a far more relaxed meeting. The pressure seems to ease off when you nonchalantly agree to go for a coffee.
Then all it comes down to is what to wear. Unlike dinner, the various options are far greater and therefore could be a recipe (clearly no pun intended as we are going for coffee and not food) for disaster. Fear not though, as we have the secret to what to wear to a coffee date.
The key is to look effortless, but unfortunately, effortless ain't always quick. Knowing what you want to wear in advance is our first tip. Don't get stressed out on the day, especially if you are on a first date. Take the pressure away by putting our you outfit beforehand — and remain committed to your choices. Don't change your mind at the last minute.
Keep it casual and comfy, but still classy. A classic combination of skinnies, heels and (weather dependent) either a camisole or knitted jumper is perfect for a coffee date. If you prefer flats that works too but steer clear of sports trainers or crocs. On sunny days a pair of white converse are usually a sure winner.
It will be the small things that can really make a difference. A touch of jewelry, well-presented nails, a messy hairdo that looks like you slung it up but you actually took half an hour perfecting. If you wear open-toed shoes try to have gorgeous looking feet — it's not impossible, honest. If the rain is coming down or its cold, remember your brolly so you do not turn up soggy with mascara running down your face.
Lastly, coffee dates are not the place to release your wild side. Being conservative with your color scheme or keeping your prints and patterns in check on this occasion is not a bad thing. We are huge fans of the latest fashion craze to mix it up and match block colors with leopard print but we suggest your coffee shop outfits should be a little more subtle.
Below are our favorite coffee shop date ensembles. We would love to hear about what you think of our outfits. Did you try any? Take a selfie and post it to our social media.
